Dream Catcher Libraries
Nepal
Throughout the world, communities face life-threatening challenges in the areas of health, agriculture, nutrition, hygiene, sanitation and water supply. Many are desperate to take action on their own behalf and there are steps they can take if only they have access to appropriate and accurate information.
Working with international volunteers and local communities, GP Connect and Service For Peace create libraries that can provide essential, life-saving information that is specific to local communities. SFP Nepal has established 15 mini libraries, two large libraries and also organizes mobile libraries on bicycles. A literacy program based on the libraries has grown to involve 460 women who now teach others to read. The libraries are also organizational centers for other projects involving education and reconciliation.
